Stripe’s Tempo Blockchain Attracts Major Financial Institutions Including Visa and Deutsche Bank
Stripe’s blockchain venture, Tempo, has secured partnerships with prominent financial and tech giants such as Visa, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered, OpenAI, and Shopify. The project, currently in private testing, targets global payments, remittances, and tokenized deposits, aiming to process tens of thousands of transactions per second with sub-second finality.
Patrick Collison, Stripe’s CEO, emphasized Tempo’s focus on high-throughput, low-latency use cases, addressing gaps in existing blockchain infrastructure. "We hope Tempo makes it easier for payment acceptance, global payouts, and microtransactions to MOVE on-chain," he stated. The initiative, first hinted at in a job posting earlier this year, aspires to scale to 100,000 transactions per second.
